I was a wee bit surprised that the Pearl/Amethyst/Garnet fusion showed up before we got to see the Pearl and Garnet fused, but that means that I got the opportunity to design her! Since Sugilite was more based on Amethyst and Opal was visually more similar to Pearl, I wanted these concepts to gear more toward Garnet, Garnet!hips and mainly a skin tone that has a red hue.
I was going to name all gems the same name, but then I thought it would be fun to choose three seperate gems. I think Pietersite is the gem out of the three that veers way from the red palette that I was originally going for; the blue in her costume was originally pink, but as I was playing around with the hue, the blue just popped, so I kept it. It homages Pearl’s outfit, and Pietersite is a red/yellow/blue stone anyway, so I don’t think it veered too, too much.
